Being A Responsible Camper At Festivals
As festival season approaches, it's time for campers to embrace a new mantra: Take It Don't Leave It. At Khyam, we're raising awareness for sustainability at festivals like Glastonbury to promote responsible camping practices and reduce our environmental footprint. Let's dive into how you can make a positive impact while enjoying your favourite music festivals.
Glastonbury Festival Message
Glastonbury Festival is leading the charge in promoting sustainability by encouraging festival-goers to take tents that they can reuse. This simple yet impactful initiative aims to minimise waste and reduce the environmental impact of discarded tents. By choosing reusable tents, campers can play a crucial role in protecting our planet for future generations.

Remember to pack reusable items, dispose of waste responsibly, and leave your campsite cleaner than you found it.
Festival Packing List
When packing for a festival, prioritise lightweight and durable gear that can withstand outdoor camping. Essentials include a quality tent, sleeping bag, camping mat, reusable water bottle, and eco-friendly toiletries. Don't forget to pack clothing suitable for varying weather conditions and comfortable footwear for long days on your feet.
You'll also want to bring
- ID, Money, Festival Tickets & Travel Tickets: The absolute must-haves, don't forget your ticket to get into the event!
- Toiletries & Medication: This includes loo rolls! Make sure to bring any medication you may need for regular use such as insulin medicine or in emergencies such as epipens.
- Multiple Bin Bags: One for rubbish, another for dirty clothes, a third may be good for keeping your clean clothes in to avoid dust and dirt getting on clothes you plant to wear
- A Wash Cloth instead of disposable wipes: even biodegradable wipes cause environmental problems with the materials they're made out of, festival-goers are being asked to bring wash cloths that can be hand-washed instead to reduce waste.
- Minimal food with eco-friendly cutlery: There are food providers at festivals that adhere to eco-friendly requirements of such events, whilst it's a good idea to bring something to tide you over 'till they open, make sure you don't overstock with food and drink that you'll have to carry over large distances and that you won't be able to refrigerate.
- Hats & Sunscreen, Wellies & Coats: Prepare for the weather! The UK is about to enter a hug heatwave, make sure to check the forecast for your festival in order to keep yourself and your fellow festival-goers safe and dry.
